My personal relationship with art is that it is something that can and should be enjoyed by all. My hope is for all my works to be able to reach everyone who views them on some sort of level, whether it be an emotional connection, or a simple passing look which is pleasing to the eye. In my work Girl on Water, I have tried to continue exploring that same relationship. Whilst the work does explore certain surface level themes, it is not my intention to provoke thought about those themes within the viewer, but rather to be visually pleasing and enhance their mood and opinion of a space. I feel that the best way to do this was to use bright, eye-catching colours(without being gaudy) and simple shapes that can be quickly and easily understood by the viewer.
